Synopsis
 Rebecca Bloomwood is a sweet and charming New York City girl who has a tiny, little problem that is rapidly turning into a big problem: she's hopelessly addicted to shopping and drowning in a sea of debt. While Rebecca has dreams of working for a top fashion magazine, she can't quite get her foot in the door-that is, until she snags a job as an advice columnist for a new financial magazine published by the same company. Overnight, her column becomes hugely popular, turning her into an overnight celebrity. But when her compulsive shopping and growing debt issues threaten to destroy her love life and derail her career, she struggles to keep it all from spiraling out of control.. and is ultimately forced to reevaluate what's really important in life.
Isla Fisher ("Wedding Crashers") stars in the film from producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director P.J. Hogan ("My Best Friend's Wedding"), based on the best-selling series of books by British author Sophie Kinsella.

Disney's Confessions of A Shopaholic Fun Facts

During the winter "dead movie months", Jerry Brucheimer and Touchstone pictures released a little publicized film, entitled Confessions of a Shopaholic. Now on June 23, 2009, Walt Disney Home Entertainment releases the Blu-ray to homes across the nation.
When fashionista Rebecca Bloomwood's out-of-control spending reaches the outer limits of her credit cards, she is forced to find employment to pay for her label-icous wardrobe. Her dream job is a position at New York's top fashion rag Alette; but she has to settle for a desk at Successful Saving, a struggling financial magazine owned by the same publishing company. With a dogged debt collector (Robert Stanton) hot on her stilettos, Becky becomes the unlikely author of a column on saving money - with a little help from her friends at Google. Her unconventional outlook on money matters attracts the approval of her dreamy boss, Luke Brandon (Hugh Dancy), and Becky begins to think that possibly there is a whole new world waiting for her just a few steps away from Madison Avenue.
Confessions of a Shopaholic's strong ensemble cast include Isla Fisher (Wedding Crashers), Hugh Dancy (The Jane Austen Book Club), Krysten Ritter (What Happens in Vegas), Joan Cusack (Friends with Money), John Goodman (Speed Racer), John Lithgow (Dream Girls) and Kristin Scott Thomas (The Other Boleyn Girl). Directed by P. J. Hogan (My Best Friend's Wedding) with a comic touch as light as the
rarefied air of the fashion world, Confessions of a Shopaholic also features costumes by iconic designer Patricia Field (Sex and the City, The Devil Wears Prada) that give New York's Fashion Week a run for its money.
At first glance, Confessions of a Shopaholic seems at best a superficial clone of The Devil Wears Prada, however, movie goers thinking this way will be missing out on a great film providing exactly what our current movie going audience craves – an escape from reality with a "Pretty Woman" type Cinderella story that has a happy ending.
The films two main stars, Isla Fisher and Hugh Dancy really shine in their performances and provide the film with a great sense of emotion and reality.
As is the case with most Disney Blu-ray releases, the picture quality is simply amazing - presented in1080p with a great vc1 encoded transfer with its original aspect ratio of 2.40:1. There is next to no artifacting on the disc, and the digital noise reduction is perfect. The audio is presented in 5.1 DTS-HD and provides the perfect blend of dialog versus the crazy hustle and bustle of the city.
While the Blu-ray does not feature any Blu-ray live features, it features a slew of great bonuses including: Bloopers, Deleted Scenes, Music Videos, and "Behind the Fashion" (A collection of inside peeks at the making of Confessions of a Shopaholic), and of course, the great digital copy feature so you can take the movie on the road with you.
If you are in the mood for a nice "feel good" comedy to dull the aches and pains of daily life, then Confessions of a Shopaholic is without a doubt your answer.--Nathan M Rose
