Goonies Sequel Is Dead in The Water

According to Variety, any chance of a sequel for the film "Goonies" has been laid to rest.  Richard Donner, director for the original said in a recent interview that "We tried really hard, and Steven (Spielberg) said, 'Let's do it.' We had a lot of young writers submit work, but it just didn't seem to call for it."

Donner did state, however, that he has other ideas in mind for the cult classic. "I'm in the process of trying to get it done as a musical on Broadway. Wouldn't that be great?"
