Jeremy Renner Had Hoped For A More Fleshed out Hawkeye In Avengers Film8/8/2012 10:59 AM EDT
"I think there's always possibilities of anything in the Marvel universe, but there's gotta be a want from people to see something like that, I don't know if there is.
"Maybe there is, maybe there isn't. But who knows? We'll see."
On the subject of The Avengers, Renner reflected on spending the majority of the movie being held hostage by Loki, his gratitude for being in the movie and his relationship with Black Widow.
"At the end of the day, 90% of the movie, I'm not the character I signed on to play. I'm literally in there for two minutes, and then all of a sudden…"
"There's a lot of unanswered questions, even for me. And I was okay with that. At least I was still in the movie. And I was glad for that.
"The closest thing I could really link to was Scarlett [Johansson's] character, Black Widow, because they have a history. And that definitely plays in the movie, I think."
Jeremy Renner can next be seen playing Aaron Cross in Universal's The Bourne Legacy which opens in theaters Friday, August 10, 2012.
