John Hawkes, who recently starred in the Sundance acclaimed film, "The Surrogate", has signed in to star in "Switch". He will be costarring with Yasiin Bey.The film will be a prequel to "Jackie Brown", the Quentin Tarantino film starring Pam Grier, Robert DeNiro and Samuel L. Jackson. Hawkes will be playing a younger version of DeNiro, and Bey will be playing the younger version of Jackson. Stephen Amell, who has made appearances on The Vampire Diaries and 90210, has signed on to play the lead in CW's new series, "Arrow". "Arrow" will be a new take on the DC Comics story of the character Green Arrow. Matthew Vaughn has signed on to direct the upcoming "X-Men: First Class" sequel. Bryan Singer will also be returning as producer for the film.The entire lead cast, which includes James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Rose Byrne, January Jones, Jennifer Lawrence, will also be reprising their respective roles. The original film wasn't a huge blockbuster but did manage to bring in a decent $353 million worldwide. There appears to be a "Rio" sequel in the works.According to Sergio Mendes, who wrote the Oscar nominated song "Real in Rio" for the film, has said as much. "Fox has been talking about (it) and it looks like it's going to happen. Evangeline Lilly, formerly of "Lost", will be starring in the upcoming "Hobbit" films. George Lucas says that after he is finished with "Red Tails", he will be retiring. Lucas has been involved with countless classic films like Star Wars and Indiana Jones, just to name a few.Lucas said, "I'm retiring. Steven Spielberg, while in France promoting "War Horse", reluctantly spoke about the upcoming "Jurassic Park 4" film that was announced last year.   When he was asked about the film, he said, "I don't want to talk about Jurassic Park 4 yet because it is too early; but I can tell you that I am not directing it.  However, I am producing it."   Rumors have been running rampant on the internet for months now that Jurassic Park 3 and Captain America helmer, Joe Johnston, would be once again directing this "dino-sized" thrill ride; however nothing has been confirmed yet....

Things are progressing with the adaptation of Robert Ludlum's last thriller novel, "The Sigma Protocal".  Universal has just hired Irwin Winkler and Jose Ruisanchez to pen the script.Winkler said, "What we are really hoping to do is create a franchise, built around this ordinary guy who gets caught up in international intrigue, and who teams with this operative who is declared a rogue by the CIA. Unlike Bourne, who is a trained assassin, this is an innocent guy traveling in Europe who gets in way over his head. "The Tomb", a film that was supposed to Arnold Schwarzenegger's first after his role as California Governor, may be seeing the light of day after a longtime stall.Schwarzenegger had dropped out of the project, along with director Antoine Fuqua, and Sylvestor Stallone was supposedly going to take over the role. Reports are now surfacing however, that both Stallone and Schwarzenegger may now be in the film.Stallone will be paying Ray Breslin, who is an elite structural security mastermind. The character finds himself a prisoner of his own design when he is thrown into prison after being framed.  Schwarzenegger will be playing a major role as well, though it is not yet known what that will be.The film was written by Miles Chapman and Jason Keller....

The classic Scorsese film, "Goodfellas", will be the basis of a new television series on AMC.The 1990 film was based on the notorious Lucchese crime family, based out of New York, and the man who turned them all in, Henry Hill. Hill lived for quite some time under witness relocation protection. There's no word if the series will be based mostly on Hill's character, as the film was.Jorge Zamacona, along with Nicholas Pileggi and Irwin Winkler, will be executive producing the film....

While attending the Brazilian premiere for "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows", Robert Downey, Jr. spoke about the upcoming "Iron Man 3" film.He said, "I think that we have an opportunity with the third Iron Man to make the best of the three, and maybe one of the better superhero movies that's ever been made. Jim Carrey may be returning for a "Bruce Almighty" sequel, according to Variety. The actor starred in the original, which earned $500 million, with Jennifer Aniston.Universal is said to have hired Jarrad Paul and Andrew Mogel to write the script, which is said to be written specifically with Jim Carrey in mind. "Hit Somebody", the Kevin Smith film that is currently in the works, will be going through some changes.  Originally, Smith had said that the film was going to be too long, and needed to be cut into 2 parts. Now, however, Smith tweeted "[I'm] now gonna make one big movie instead…makes more sense, anyway: the movie's about taking one, good shot." Starring in the film will be Nicholas Braun, John Goodman, Melissa Leo, Alan Rickman, Kevin Pollak and Ralph Garman.Filming will begin in June and Smith hopes to premiere it at Sundance in 2013....
