It has been reported that Netflix is developing a new series based on the horror novel "The Haunting of Hill House," which was written by Shirley Jackson.

The novel has received critical acclaim, and has been described as one of the best horror stories in the 20th century. It follows the story of four people who spend a summer together in a rented mansion. It's not long before they realize strange things occurring the house; supernatural events.

The show will include a total of 10 episodes, and will be written and directed by Mike Flanagan ("Hush"/"Oculus"/"Ouija: Origin of Evil") and will be executive produced by Trevor Macy, Justin Falvey, and Darryl Frank, along with Flanagan. Amblin TV and Paramount TV will be producing.

"The Haunting of Hill House" was also adapted into film in 1963 and 1999.
