Ed Skrein Steps Down from Hellboy Role
Ed Skrein, who joined the cast of the upcoming Hellboy reboot just last week, has decided to step down from the role.

Skrein had been cast to play Major Ben Daimio, which is a character of Asian descent. When words got out about the casting choice, people took to social media to voice their disdain for what seemed to be yet another instance of Hollywood whitewashing.

Skrein took to Twitter to respond, saying, "Representation of ethnic diversity is important, especially to me as I have a mixed family heritage. It is our responsibility to make moral decisions in difficult times and to give voice to inclusivity. It is my hope that one day these discussions will become less necessary and that we can help make equal representation in the Arts a reality".

Hellboy stars Stranger Things' David Harbour as Hellboy, Ian McShane as the hero's adoptive father and Milla Jovovich as a medieval sorceress who wants to destroy humanity.
