Alex Trebek, Beloved Host of Jeopardy, Passes Away At 80

Legendary game show host Alex Trebek, who has hosted Jeopardy since 1984, has died. He was 80 years old.

Trebek has been battling Stage 4 pancreatic cancer since last year. He continued his work on Jeopardy and even joked about it, saying,  "Truth told, I have to! Because under the terms of my contract, I have to host 'Jeopardy!' for three more years!"

He even filmed enough episodes to air through Christmas.

Treble was born on July 22, 1940, in Ontario, Canada. Before hosting Jeopardy, he hosted other game shows including "High Rollers" and "Reach for the Top".

He died this morning surrounded by family and friends. He is survived by his wife Jean and children Emily and Matthew.
