Director Adam Wingard, whose "Godzilla vs. Kong" film will be released Wednesday, is set to direct the upcoming "ThunderCats" film.
The film will be based on the popular animated series that ran from 1985-1989. The franchise has seen a resurgence in recent years through merchandising but has been considered a classic for some time now. The ThunderCats, who are comprised of Lion-O, Cheetara, Panthro, Tygra, WilyKit, WilyKat, and Snarf, are forced to leave their dying planet of Thundera, and now live on Third Earth.
Wingard will also rewrite an early script by David Coggeshall alongside Simon Barrett. Rideback's Dan Lin and Vertigo's Roy Lee will produce.
