TV Icon Betty White Dies at 99

Iconic TV personality and actress Betty White has died. She was 99, just weeks shy of her 100th birthday.

White was best known for her role as Rose Nylund in the legendary TV show, "Golden Girls", but has been a TV staple since the 1950s. She starred as Sue Anne Nivens on "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" and most recently, "Hot In Cleveland". Other credits include "Life with Elizabeth," "Date with the Angels," "The Love Boat," "Mama's Family," "The Golden Palace," "Ladies Man," "That '70s Show," "Higglytown Heroes," "Boston Legal," "The Bold and the Beautiful," "Pound Puppies," and numerous game show appearances.

White married Allen Ludden in 1963 and they remained together until his death in 1981.

Agent and close friend Jeff Witjas said, "I will miss her terribly and so will the animal world that she loved so much. I don't think Betty ever feared passing because she always wanted to be with her most beloved husband Allen Ludden. She believed she would be with him again."

Just a few days ago, White took to Twitter to announce her People Magazine cover in honor of her 100th birthday.

"My 100th birthday… I cannot believe it is coming up, and People Magazine is celebrating with me! The new issue of @people is available on newsstands nationwide tomorrow."

She is believed to have died of natural causes.
