Universal Announces Twister Sequel is in the Works

Universal has announced that they will be releasing a sequel to the 1996 blockbuster film "Twister" titled "Twisters".

Lee Isaac Chung is set to direct with Mark L. Smith penning the screenplay.

Helen Hunt, Bill Paxton, Cary Elwes, Philip Seymour Hoffman, and Jami Gertz starred in the original, which earned over $500 million at the box office.

Universal says the film will be "a new chapter from the 1996 movie", though no other plot details have been revealed.

"Twisters" is slated for a July 19, 2024 release.
