Paramount+ Announces Rate Increase

Paramount+ has announced that it will be upping its price, after a major restructuring. Showtime will now be absorbed by Paramount+.

The new Paramount+ with Showtime will go from $9.99 to $11.99 a month, and the Paramount+ essential tier, without Showtime, will go from $4.99 to $5.99, for new and existing customers.

During a post-earnings conference call, Paramount Global's CFO Naveen Chopra said, "A single service requires less content to acquire and retain subscribers than two independent services." He added that the new format "makes Paramount+ the definitive multi-platform service in the streaming space," and that "the integrated product will be more engaging for consumers."

Subscribers to Paramount+ are up 9.9 million from last quarter, bringing them up to 56 million.
