Unleash the Minion Mayhem: Discover Villain-Con Minion Blast at Universal Orlando Resort!

Get ready for even more fun at Universal Orlando Resort! This summer, a whole new level of Minion mischief and diabolical fun will be unleashed at Universal Orlando Resort with the official debut of the first-of-its-kind blaster game attraction, Illumination's Villain-Con Minion Blast, as well as the expansive new Minion Land on Illumination Ave. at Universal Studios Florida. 

These new experiences have been created by a partnership between the visionary teams at Universal Creative and Illumination. These new experiences will invite guests of all ages to step into the beloved world of the Minions franchise like never before as they blast their way to supervillain stardom, savor flavorful fare courtesy of the Minions, meet some of their favorite characters and so much more.

Universal Orlando Resort has shared exciting new information about Illumination's Villain-Con Minion Blast, an interactive gaming experience set to open this summer in Minion Land. This innovative attraction, created in collaboration between Universal Creative and Illumination, promises to take guests of all ages on a mischievous and diabolically fun journey into the beloved Minions franchise. Visitors will have the opportunity to embark on an immersive adventure, aiming to become supervillain stars as they blast their way through challenges, indulge in delectable Minion cuisine, meet beloved characters, and much more.

The newly revealed details shed light on Illumination's Villain-Con Minion Blast, situated at the entrance of Minion Land. This extraordinary blaster game attraction seamlessly combines captivating sets, interactive technology, animated visuals, and an original narrative, providing an unparalleled experience. Guests will be transported to Villain-Con, a global convention for villains, where the main event is a competition to determine the newest member of the notorious Vicious 6 supervillain group, featured in the popular film "Minions: Rise of Gru." Traversing the convention, attendees will explore the trade show floor, brimming with cutting-edge gadgets, vehicles, and fashion, all essential for executing the most heinous schemes. Armed with the "E-Liminator X" blaster, guests can then engage in friendly rivalry with friends, loved ones, and fellow visitors, showcasing their wicked skills and proving their villainous prowess.

Throughout the competition, guests will use their blaster - equipped with Freeze Rays, Banana Bombs, Explosive Nunchucks, and more - to cause as much mayhem and destruction as possible to earn points. As they wind and glide through the experience aboard a moving pathway, they'll encounter each member of the Vicious 6, voiced by the original cast from the film, in a setting inspired by their character, including:

* Belle Bottom (voiced by Taraji P. Henson), the cool, confident leader of the Vicious 6, in a groovy disco
* Stronghold (voiced by Danny Trejo) - named after his giant iron hands - in a museum filled with tons of fragile and priceless art just waiting to be destroyed
* Nun-Chuck (voiced by Lucy Lawless), a fierce warrior with prized nun-chucks who will travel aboard her flying organ as she challenges guests to create musical mayhem
* Jean Clawed (voiced by Jean-Claude Van Damme) - outfitted with a giant mechanical lobster claw - in an evil, underwater lair filled with hidden loot and robotic sea creatures
* Svengeance (voiced by Dolph Lundgren), the roller-skating champion with spiked skates, in a floating roller derby filled with blimps, jumbo-trons, and speed-skating robots

Villain-Con Minion Blast will introduce an exciting feature that sets it apart from other attractions at Universal Orlando Resort-it will be the first to offer a connected gameplay experience through The Official Universal Orlando Resort App. By simply tapping their blaster to sync it with the app, participants can elevate their game to a whole new level. They can track their scores, embark on special missions within the attraction, unlock powerful blasts and evil perks to accumulate more points, and even earn digital collectibles. The more guests play and achieve high scores, the more perks and bragging rights they will acquire. Additionally, this digital experience is integrated with the visitor's Universal Guest Account within the Universal Orlando app, fostering a deeper connection that enhances their in-park experience and opens doors to further digital-to-physical world benefits.

Villain-Con Minion Blast is just one of the incredibly enjoyable experiences that await visitors in Minion Land. This vibrant area offers a range of dining options, various eateries, shopping opportunities, and entertainment inspired by beloved films and characters from Illumination. In addition to the immensely popular Despicable Me Minion Mayhem attraction and the new Villain-Con Minion Blast, guests can fuel their energy for the mayhem at Illumination's Minion Cafe, a unique dining establishment run by the Minions themselves, offering inventive and family-friendly cuisine. They can also indulge in Minion-themed sweet treats at Bake My Day, a retail location and bakery with a delightful selection. For a flavorful twist, there's Pop-A-Nana, a kiosk offering banana-flavored popcorn, and Freeze Ray Pops, a walk-up window serving refreshingly colorful frozen treats. Furthermore, guests can make their way to the outdoor Illumination Theater façade to meet, greet, and interact with beloved characters from the "Despicable Me" franchise, including the Minions, Gru, Margo, Edith, and Agnes, as well as Rosita, Gunter, and Johnny from the hit film "Sing."
