The Lost Boys: The Thirst Staff Review

The Lost Boys is one of those great movies from the 80's that found its way into our hearts and has lasted over the years due to a loyal following. Of course as years passed fans had a desire to see a sequel. Rumors surfaced as time passed, perhaps a movie with girls at the center instead of boys. At one point even Britney Spears was mentioned as starring. Obviously that never came to pass and quite frankly that's a good thing. Eventually a sequel was made and it went straight to DVD. That was The Lost Boys: The Tribe and other than having Corey Feldman in it there wasn't much resemblance to the original. Now a third installment has hit the shelves and it is called The Lost Boys: The Thirst.
This time around we have the other Frog brother who got a mention in the second movie but no appearance was made. Also this movie tends to pay a bit more homage to the original by incorporating flashbacks from the first one as well as mentioning some of the characters from it. The movie stars Corey Feldman as Edgar Frog who after losing his brother to a vampire attack has given up the fight altogether. A woman appears on his doorstep saying vampires kidnapped her brother and she wants her Edgar to help her get him back. At first he is reluctant to help but after a chat with his brother, whom we see is alive but a half vampire, he decides to help her.
The vampires apparently are planning a rave to deal out vials of their blood and turn as many humans as they can. In some ways this movie borrows a lot from the Blade series but perhaps it's becoming harder to come up with new ways for vampires to be trendy? As the movie progresses we see Edgar lead a team of people into the vampires lair and of course things don't go as they planned.
While this movie does pay its respects to the first Lost Boys it still is a cheaply made movie. Nothing and no one really delivers in any way for you to feel your not wasting your time with. Perhaps they will make more, though with the way they ended this one it would be interesting to see how they will sneak around that plot hole. Maybe the Frog brothers will start hunting other creatures of the night? So while you may be curious to see this movie for yourself you may want to skip it this time around and just go rent the original. At the very least you can enjoy listening to the original version of "
Cry Little Sister".
