Synopsis
Gripping human drama. Sumptuous period epic. Glorious celebration of the music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. This marvelous winner of eight Academy Awards(R) portrays the rivalry between the genius Mozart (Tom Hulce) and the jealous court composer (Best Actor Oscar(R) Winner F.Murray Abraham) who may have ruined Mozart's career and shortened his life.
Amadeus, a famous 1979 play tells the story of a young Mozart and his rivalry with a sinister Salieri. Now this play from 30 years ago has become a movie and made it's way to Blu-ray. As epic as this story gets, keep in mind that it's not an accurate portrayal of Mozart's life. The story is told through the eyes of Salieri and his plot to murder Mozart. This classic was nominated for over fifty awards back in 1984 when it hit the big screen. It won the Oscar for Best Picture, Best Actor, and six others.
The Blu-ray edition comes with a flashy 1080p/VC-1 that delivers rich colors and sharp contrast. The detail and quality has been greatly increased since the times of the original version. The disc's Dolby TrueHD 5.1 surround track incredible reproduces Mozart's greatest pieces. While watching the movie, you'll feel like you have violins to your left, while horns on your right, with flutes coming at you from the front.
The Blu-ray comes in a 3-disc set. Most of the special features that were on the 2002 DVD edition return for the Blu-ray edition. Special features include an audio commentary, a look at the making of Amadeus, and even a special soundtrack CD.
Warner Bros. did a superb job in recreating a classic and improving it with the updates of technology.
